Notes Focuses on low vision & color blindness
Azardi has some built-in options for visual adjustment but could be better. It can be used with Windows 10 Magnifier but not Colors & High Contrast. It has no read aloud feature. It supports audio overlay but doesn't work with the test file.
Overall, I can't recommend this configuration of Azardi for people with low vision or color blindness. Other systems are more powerful and easier to use.
Comments: - Has some built-in options for visual adjustment. These include type face, font size, margins, line spacing, justification and flow. The User Guide indicates that background color can be changed for fixed layout books but not for re-flowable content. - Can be used with Windows 10 Magnifier to enlarge all system features, including toolbar buttons, TOC, etc. Toolbar buttons are small and pixellate when magnified. - Does not support Windows 10 Colors & High Contrast options in the content pane. High contrast settings make toolbar buttons difficult or impossible to see. - Does not have a read aloud feature but the User Guide says it supports audio overlay. After I loaded the test file, the Audio Button in the Toolbar was activated and I could open the Player. However, I could not make the controls work using either a mouse or the keyboard shortcuts in Azardi's Help document (F1). - Has a fairly intuitive visual interface with some exceptions: - A Landing page with a logo - you need to find and select the Library button to access functionality. - Search, which is only available from the Library screen (to search within all books) and not in Reading Mode. - Some Toolbar buttons, especially Landmarks (an image icon with mountains) and Show Print Page Numbers ( a printer). Tooltips clarify what they mean.
Operating system accessibility
Reading system activation
The application opens on a landing page with the Azardi logo. To access functionality, select the Library button in the toolbar.
Navigate to chapters through the Table of Contents
To access the TOC you can select the TOC button in the toolbar or use a flyout menu on the right side. Use the Return button in the toolbar to get back quickly to your previous position.
Navigate content by pages
To view a list of pages, select the Landmarks button in the toolbar. Choose the Page Navigation option, which displays the Ink Print Page List.
Navigate by reflowed page number
Use the Next/Previous Page in the toolbar or shortcut keys.
Read navigation information
Current section and page number information is not available.
Perform a search, review the search results
Azardi supports searching from the Library screen only, not in Reading mode. Results are listed by book. You must index a book to enable searching. You can do this on the Library screen. Note: The index check boxes don't work. You must select Index from the context menu for each book.
Highlights, Notes, and Bookmarks
Add a Bookmark or Highlight
There is no option to insert a bookmark. When I create a Note, the text is highlighted. I cannot find a way to create a Highlight separately. (Checked Help.)
Review and navigate Bookmarks or Highlights
There is an option to view a list of Highlights but the list is empty. There is no feature to add/view bookmarks.
Add a note
You can only make notes on text in paragraphs. You cannot, for example, make a note on a list item.
No native support. Windows Colors is not supported. User Guide says you can change background color of Fixed Layout EPUBs.
No native support. Windows 10 Display settings work.
Apply high contrast system configuration
No native support. Windows 10 High Contrast settings are not supported (with exception of Default Settings screen). Toolbar buttons are difficult or impossible to see with high contrast settings (tested variations).
Magnify the User Interface(UI)
This option is under Default Settings rather than User Preferences, where other visual adjustments are. There is a large range of fonts, including OpenDyslexic. Applies to book contents but not TOC, settings, etc.
