Only read aloud and visual adjustments tests have been performed. The basic and non-visual tests are in another evaluation.
All fundamental visual adjustment features are supported.
There is no integrated read aloud feature.
Operating system/Platform accessibility
The reading system can be activated independently
As standard the Books app is configured as the EPUB reading app. It can be opened from the Finder, then it is added to the bookshelf. Once there it is simple to find again and open.
The titles in the bookshelf can shown as tiles or a list, which can be navigated by keyboard or mouse. The titles can be grouped and sorted in a variety of ways to make a larger collection easier to navigate.
The table of contents in the app presents the content hierarchy
The table of contents can be reached from an icon on the tool bar, with the keyboard shortcut "command T", or in the View menu. The hierarchy is represented correctly. Sub-levels are shown indented and with a grey background.

Highlights, Notes, and Bookmarks
Add a Bookmark or Highlight
A highlight is made by selecting the text, then choosing a color. Notes can then be added.
At the top of the app there is a button with a small and larger "A". This brings up a control with options for the page and text. The text size can be reduced and increased through a wide range. The size of images appear to be unaffected.
Change background and foreground color
In the menu View there is Theme, which offers White, Sepia, Grey and Night.
Achieved in this evaluation with the keyboard control provided on the Macbook (on F1 and F2 keys).
Apply high contrast system configuration
Color invert selected via System preferences/Accessibility/Display worked as expected.
Magnify the User Interface(UI)
Several typefaces can be selected. In the tool bar at the top of the reading window there is an icon with a small capital A and a larger capital A. This opens a menu to adjust visual the appearance of pages and text.
Support for SVG
The gray circle is displayed as expected.

The SVG image can be double clicked to show in its own window. The zoom feature of iOS can be used to enlarge. There is no image zoom feature provided in the app.
A limited integrated read aloud feature is provided. Text can be selected, then then in the context menu, under More, there is Start speaking. This reads the highlighted text only. There is no read along emphasis, and no controls to pause and restart reading.
